Before Stories are a post everything duo from Aberdeen made up of Colin Brennan on Baritone Guitar and Jamie Reid on Guitar/Vocals. If you’re interested in finding out more about Before Stories, then you can click here to check out the interview I did with them. Before I forget, this isn’t the first time I’ve reviewed the band either, and you can check that out here. Today I’ll be reviewing their latest single ‘Daymare’ which was released 6th August 2018.
‘Daymare’ has a nice little percussive intro, that merges perfectly with the guitar and builds up slowly, and just when it reaches a certain point the vocals kick in. They are very spoken word but it works really well with the track, and they avoided the trap of letting the music overpower the vocals which can sometimes happen when an artist chooses to use spoken word for a track. ‘Daymare’ isn’t what I was expecting from the title but it’s a really strong track, and the music does have a sort of dreamlike quality that fits with the whole Daymare idea. I liked listening to the vocalist tell his story, and I really look forward to hearing more from this artist.
So that’s what I thought of Before Stories single ‘Daymare’ and if you want to check that out for yourself then visit Bandcamp. And make sure and keep up to date with Before Stories by following them on Facebook.
